Welcome to Mrs. Dahlmann's home page.  This is my sixthyear teaching in the Shikellamy School District, and my fifth year at the High School.  Teaching is my second career.  I previously worked in health care in medical laboratories and as an Infection Control Practitioner.  I enjoy teaching Biology because I like to know how living things function and interact.

This year in Biology we will be studying:
  • Scientific Method (2 weeks)
  • Chemistry for Life (2 weeks)
  • Classification of living things (1 weeks)
  • Ecology (3 weeks)
  • Cells: structures & functions (5 weeks)
  • Cell Reproduction (4-5 weeks)
  • Energy for Life (Photosynthesis and Respiration) (2-3 weeks)
  • Heredity (Genetics) (5 weeks)
  • Nucleic Acids (DNA & RNA) (2 - 3 weeks)
  • Evolution (included with other topics where appropriate)
  • Plants (one week mini unit if time permits)
  • Animals (one week mini unit)
I give a variety of class assignments.  Graded work must be turned in within one week of the due date.  You will have a comprehensive final exam that includes all material for the year.  Your written portfolio will count as 1/2 your final exam grade.
