2016-17 School Calendar UPDATE - Pending Approval -
  • There will be a full day of school on Thursday, June 8th. 
  • The last student day will be 1/2 day on Friday, June 9th 
  • Graduation will be held on Friday, June 9th.
  • There will be an Act 80 day on June 12th and June 13th (Students do not attend school on Act 80 days - Only teachers)

Volunteer Information

The Shikellamy School District values and appreciates each of our volunteers.  In preparation of a new school year, we want you to be as informed as possible.  As a result of some changes in the law, all prospective volunteers must obtain the following clearances:

· Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) 

· Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse).

Additionally, a fingerprint based federal criminal history (FBI) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent is required if:

 · The volunteer has lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the last 10 years.

Volunteers who are not required to obtain the FBI Clearance because they are applying for an unpaid position and have been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for the past 10 years must swear or affirm in writing that they are not disqualified from service based upon a conviction of an offense under §6344.  The following form must be signed in the presence of school personnel.

School Board Update

At the May 11, 2017 Regular Board meeting, the Board of Education acted on the following:

Appointed Beth Zeigler as Board Secretary for a four year term effective June 1, 2017 through June 30, 2017.

Ratified the amendment of the revision of the 2016/17 school calendar.

Approved the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #503 scholarship.

Appointed Michael Geiswhite as a mathematics teacher and Megan Steese as a family consumer science teacher.

Approved the annual professional contracts for 2017/18 school term with the solicitor, dentist, doctor and depository.

Approved the first reading of the following policies:

o 246 – School Wellness

Approved the second reading of the following policies:

o NEW Policy 209.2 – Diabetes Management

o 233 – Suspension & Expulsion
