Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics The STEAM Afterschool and Summer Programs are currently offered to students in 3rd through 8th grades at the Shikellamy School District. The program is provided at NO COST to parents through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers federal grant. The Afterschool STEAM Program offers each student an opportunity to meet their academic and social milestones through out-of-time learning opportunities. In addition to the academic opportunities, STEAM provides homework help, physical activity time, and a daily meal provided by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Transportation to and from the program is available each day . The program staff is comprised of district teachers and classroom aides who will help your child excel at the program. Staff will focus on learning group activities and enrichment in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and math. The Afterschool and Summer Programs partner with Box of Light Film & Studios, Customized Tutoring Services,STRIDE interactive learning software, nutrition and health courses provided by Evangelical Community Hospital, the YMCA Arts Center, local community libraries, Clyde Peeling Reptiland and more! The program operates from Monday through Thursday for three hours during the school year and five hours over the summer. A half hour at the end of each day will be devoted to parents who want to visit and talk with program staff about their child. We request that all parent meetings be scheduled 24 hours in advance, but are always willing to help should you need to meet immediately. ![]() PROGRAM HOURS Shikellamy Middle School: 3pm - 5:30pm Priestley and Oaklyn Elementary: 3pm - 5:30pm Chief and Beck Elementary: 2:30pm-5:00pm Parent/Staff meeting times will be scheduled for the 30 minutes immediately following student dismissal.
