ANNUAL AHERA NOTIFICATION

SHIKELLAMY SCHOOL DISTRICT

2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR 

 

 

Under the Federal Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) of 1986, the Shikellamy School District (SSD) is required to provide written notification to parents or legal guardians, teachers and employee organizations, of the availability and location of the Asbestos Management Plans and of any post-response action activities, including periodic re-inspection and surveillance activities that are planned or in progress.

 

During the 2018/19 school year, the AHERA related activities have been the periodic 6-month surveillance required under AHERA to maintain current information on the condition of materials in school buildings, and response actions for maintenance, renovation and demolition within these buildings. Six-month surveillance activities have been completed by Mountain Environmental &Radon Services, LLC, an independent environmental consultant. The Asbestos Management Plans are available for review during normal working hours at the SSD Administrative Offices.
