Title I Summer Reading Challenge

At the end of each school year, Title I Elementary students were asked to read at least six books during the summer and keep a reading log. The students that returned the logs at the beginning of the new school year were able to choose a new book and a school supply. Reading researchers say that students can lose up to two months of reading skills if they do not read over the summer. By reading over the summer, Shikellamy students stopped “the summer slide” and became reading heroes!
