Supporting Student Success Through Additional Academic Support

The Shikellamy School District is committed to providing every student with the opportunity to achieve academic success. Through the federal Title I, Part A program, the District provides additional resources and support to help students meet challenging academic standards and reach their full potential.

Title I is a federally funded program designed to provide supplemental academic support to students who need additional assistance in meeting grade-level expectations. These services are provided in addition to the core classroom instruction students receive each day.

Through Title I funding, Shikellamy School District provides additional instructional support, resources, and opportunities to help strengthen student learning. Title I services may include targeted academic instruction, progress monitoring, instructional resources, and collaboration between Title I staff and classroom teachers to support student growth.

Family Engagement

Families play an important role in supporting student success. The District encourages parents and guardians to actively participate in their child's education by communicating with teachers, attending school events, reviewing student progress, and partnering with school staff to support learning.

Title I schools provide opportunities for families to learn about their child's academic progress, understand instructional programs, and provide input regarding Title I services.

Title I Complaint Process

The Shikellamy School District is committed to resolving questions or concerns regarding Title I services in a timely and effective manner. Parents or guardians who have a concern regarding Title I services may follow the complaint process outlined below.

Step 1

Discuss the concern with the Title I support teacher and/or classroom teacher.

Step 2

If the concern cannot be resolved within two weeks, discuss the issue with the building principal or the Shikellamy School District Federal Programs Coordinator.

Step 3

If the concern remains unresolved after one week, the matter may be brought to the Superintendent of Schools.

Step 4

If the concern cannot be resolved at the district level, parents may contact the Pennsylvania Department of Education for further assistance.
